PGL 2024 Day 2

Children were awoken in the morning by Mr Ketley's famous alarm - some more bleary eyed than others!  We had an early breakfast before heading straight off to our morning activities.

There was also a surprise visit from Mrs Boulton and Mrs Balm who joined us for the day.

Keiran - "I like how the teachers are doing the activities with us because if they can do it then I know I can do it."

Group 4 enjoyed the tunnel trail first thing in the morning, which was a series of large and small underground tunnels which children had to learn to navigate.

Elise - "Tunnel trail was quite scary, but fun at the same time. You had to crawl on your belly through the small ones."

Luisa (just before entering a tunnel) - "I will come out stronger and I will be able to do this!"

This group also did their climbing this morning, and were particularly proud of Krish who was hesitant at first but then went all the way to the top.  Group 3 enjoyed the giant swing and a particular mention has to go to Israel who did this all by himself - even pulling the release cord after not being too sure to begin with.

Alina - "I’m so glad I came as it's amazing. I didn’t think I’d get to 100% on the giant swing but I am so pleased I did!"

Ivy - "You learn a lot of resilience here and you can feel proud of yourself. It’s a good opportunity to have fun and enjoy yourself. We laughed when Thea was doing the giant swing because she was screaming her head off!"

Thea - "PGL is an amazing thing to do - you need confidence and resilience to do some of the activities."

The sensory trail was a big hit amongst children, where they were blindfolded and led through an obstacle course.  Despite having to be out in the woods in the hail, children showed great spirit and pushed on regardless.

The children had the chance to visit the famous PGL shop after lunch which caused a great deal of excitement.  The afternoon was also packed filled with activities for children and Mrs Davies commented on the teamwork showed by her group; all of them supported each other to do as well as they could.

In the last activity of today, group 6 took on the giant swing and we were so proud that Kevin managed to go to the top, despite only wanting to go to 10% originally.  Mrs Born was particularly proud of her group as they have all had a go at something!

Daniel - "I’m loving the songs that we sing when we go to the next activity - my favourite is the pizza song."

After dinner, children prepared themselves for their evening entertainment - campfire.  Children loved the camp songs led by the PGL staff and enjoyed the toasted marshmallows even more.

Oscar - "The staff are really nice because they make you feel safe."

It was then a late night woodland walk back to the cabins before showers, teeth and bed.  At the time of writing (21:30), all seems quiet on the corridors...
